An indie film shot entirely in Brooklyn has won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the American Black Film Festival.
Directed and produced by Devin Haqq, a graduate of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's Professional Actor Training MFA program and teaches Shakespeare to inner city students.
Haqq says he never imagined his film 'AMBITION'S DEBT' would rank so high when he submitted it to the American Black Film Festival.
The film is a post-apocalyptic adaptation of Shakespeare’s 'Julius Cesar,' Haqq says.
The film features actors Nathan Darrow and actress Kathleen Chalfant better known for their roles on the Netflix original series 'House of Cards.'
Haqq says he plans on showing the film at more film festivals.
He hopes the film will be released in theatres by next year.
