A woman is fighting eviction from her Bellport apartment complex because management says it doesn?t allow pit bulls. The woman, however, says management was aware of the dogs when she signed the lease.
Helen Baier Robinson says she didn't know the Atlantic Point complex doesn't allow pit bulls.
?In the lease, it says exotic animals and some dog breeds are restricted," Robinson says. "They [had] pictures of my dogs when I signed the lease. My dogs? New York State licenses said what breed they are. They are mixes, they are not full breed pit bulls."
A lawyer for the complex says Robinson signed a form acknowledging pit bulls were not allowed and stated her dogs were a lab and a boxer. He says Robinson was warned to get rid of the animals, but refused to do so. A neighbor also complained Robinson?s dog attacked his dog.
Robinson was served with an eviction notice and has until Dec. 1 to leave or she will be kicked out.
