Suffolk is dealing with a rising death toll due to COVID-19, but County Executive Steve Bellone says their system is ready to handle it.
"Currently our medical examiner's office has a capacity of 70%, so we still have space there. But we have made additional measures to expand capacity that will allow us to deal with anything else that may happen," says County Exec. Bellone.
At the early stages of the crisis, there were conversations suggesting the use of ice rinks and stores with refrigerators to temporarily house bodies of the deceased.
