Homeowners want more stop signs on a South Bellmore roadway they compare to a speedway.
The homeowners say drivers are speeding well above the 30 mph limit on Judith Drive.
“When I say over 50 mph, I mean every word of it,” says Tom Frigenti.
The residents feel the stop sign at the end of Judith Drive and the one two streets away are too far from each other. They are asking the Town of Hempstead to install more stop signs. News 12 Long Island spotted some drivers ignoring existing stop signs.
Frank Rosse, who says he was hit by a car in the spot, says there have been too many accidents. Nassau police count three in the last 21 months.
Diana Grubard started a petition and got Hempstead Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney's attention.

"We're going to look into it right away and hopefully be able to get the stop sign installed if it warrants," says King Sweeney.

The town says it's conducting a traffic study. Grubard says she'll continue to gather support until the signs are installed.
“There's a lot of young kids here,” she says.
