A Bay Shore man was found guilty of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s daughter during a jury trial on Tuesday.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office says he began victimizing the girl while her mother was at work in 2020. She was 8 years old at the time.

The abuse continued and escalated until December 2024, when the child confided in one of her friends.

Prosecutors say the friend encouraged her to inform an adult. She told her grandmother, who then spoke to the mother, who called police.

The name of the man is being withheld in order to protect the victim. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
