The death of a Bay Shore man while in police custody for allegedly selling drugs was under investigation Sunday.
Police say they observed Kenny Lazo, 26, selling drugs Saturday around 9 p.m. Authorities say the suspect led them on a short foot chase, struggled with cops and tried to grab an officer's gun.
He was eventually handcuffed. Police say they seized crack and cocaine from Lazo before taking him to the Third Precinct.
Authorities say he passed out about 30 minutes later while at the station and died a short time later at Southside Hospital. An autopsy was being performed to determine his exact cause of death.
Police were not available for an on-camera comment Sunday and Lazo's family could not be reached for comment.
