Monday will mark 25 years since the Long Island Pine Barrens were spun into an inferno, with nearly every volunteer fire department coming together to battle the blaze.
Columns of smoke and walls of fire, called the Sunrise Wildfire, scorched nearly 6,000 acres of the Pine Barrens in August of 1995.
News 12 Digital spoke to fire officials and others about what lessons were learned once the final embers were extinguished.
