High school sports are postponed, but that doesn't mean kids have
stopped playing all together.
More than 50 basketball teams competed at the Empire Arena last weekend
in Westbury.
It may look like "just" a backyard basketball court, but these
days it's a whole lot more. The “space” is how Empire Youth
Athletics is hooping it up during the pandemic, with socially distanced small
group training from some of the best coaches around.
Even though the response to the backyard ball has been outstanding, they wanted
to make sure everyone could get involved – they livestream their workouts on Twitch for free.
So whether it's online or in person, the coaches say they
just want to help grow the game of basketball. Even if the days are long.
