The Beardsley Zoo is encouraging supporters to help makeover the existing bald eagle habitat through fundraisers.
According to the zoo, the current resident eagle, Kodiak, has been leaving in a temporary habitat for the past year – but it will soon be removed.
The plan is to renovate the permanent habitat with a “protective cover, enhanced pond, and additional perches.” It will also be able to house more rehabilitated birds.
To mitigate the $200,000 cost of the project, the zoo is “encouraging scout groups, classrooms, families and other individuals to help raise funds.”
Donation information and details about the habitat can be found on the zoo’s website.
