A man was shot after allegedly threatening Nassau police detectives with a knife, authorities say.

Police say it happened Saturday afternoon in Copiague.

Detectives were interviewing a 39-year-old man outside his residence on Buchanan Drive for an earlier incident.

Police say that's when the suspect charged at them with a knife, and was then shot by the detectives.

The man was taken to the hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.
