Investigators from multiple federal agencies launched an "interagency operation” on Monday at the Metropolitan Detention Center, where Sean “Diddy” Combs is being held.
The Bureau of Prisons is launching the operation amid these concerns. They say the operation's intention is to keep employees and inmates safe.
News 12 spoke with a family member of an inmate who wanted to remain anonymous. She says she was denied a visit on Monday.
"This is not a surprise, this is something we’ve been aware of since forever. I’m actually surprised it took this long to have this much presence. I guess when a celebrity or a big name in the area it takes something like that for something to get done," she said.
The Bureau of Prisons says this was a preplanned operation and there is no active threat.
News 12 reached out to Sean “Diddy” Combs' lawyer but hasn't heard back.
