A Centereach father tried to sell drugs at a school playground with his 2-year-old daughter in tow, according to authorities.
Chaleek Williams, 25, is accused of trying to sell crack cocaine to a person he agreed to meet Wednesday afternoon at Oxhead Road Elementary School. Court documents state that when police showed up, Williams resisted arrest and was also in possession of ecstasy.
Prosecutors say Williams brought his 2-year-old daughter with him, but the suspect's attorney says Williams was simply there with his daughter to be at the playground.
In April 2018, prosecutors say Williams sold cocaine to another person.
In a statement, the superintendent of the Middle Country Central School District pointed out that the alleged drug deal happened after school hours, at 4 p.m. She also says, "The park area will have an increased security presence" over the holiday weekend.
Williams was arraigned Thursday and held on $85,000 bail.
News 12 has learned that Williams played football at Sachem High School North and attended SUNY Old Westbury.
The young girl was released to a family member.
