The state attorney general is warning the public of potential identity theft.
Attorney General Letitia says a data breach has hit medical transcription company Perry Johnson and Associates, affecting nearly nine million patients, including approximately four million New Yorkers tied to Northwell Health.
Those affected have mostly been notified, but individuals concerned about potential identity theft are urged to monitor their credit.
James recommends placing a free credit freeze or fraud alert on credit reports, obtaining medical records copies, and notifying insurance companies for further safeguarding.
