Bay Shore man charged with murder in New Year’s Day shooting

A Bay Shore resident has been arrested for fatally shooting a man on New Year’s Day, according to police.

Authorities say they received a report about a shooting that occurred around 2:05 a.m. in New Cassel.

Upon arrival, officers found Joseph Fountain with a gunshot wound inside a residence on Railroad Avenue.

Staff at a nearby hospital pronounced the 40-year-old dead shortly after.

During a news conference on Sunday morning, Nassau police identified 34-year-old Stephen Primm as the suspect. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
