Police say they arrested the man responsible for a decades-old murder in Hempstead.
Authorities say they arrested 38-year-old Joey Bethea in upstate New York for killing 22-year-old Dorothy LeConte, of New Jersey, in 1989.
Cops say LeConte was sexually assaulted and strangled near Hempstead High School. LeConte, a Haitian immigrant, had only been living in the United States for 6 months when she was killed. Police say Bethea was arrested three times since LeConte?s murder and they were able to match a DNA sample he recently gave with DNA from the crime scene.
Bethea is charged with felony murder.
