The 44th Annual NYC Big Apple Grapple International Championship arm wrestling competition was held in in Farmingdale Sunday.
Contestants from New York City, Long Island, and as far away as Russia, gathered to show their strength.
There were right- and left-handed weight classes for men and women in both professional and amateur categories.
"It's a unique sport, it's one-on-one, and everyone's styles match up differently. So we find that it's so weird like you can have someone that is not that strong in the gym, but all of a sudden on the table, their tendon strength kicks in and their technique kicks in and it's unbelievable to watch these people," said Jerry Cadorette, of Boston, Massachusetts.
Winners of various competitions received up to $250.
