Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced today that appointments for the new state-run mass vaccination sites will open to those who are eligible starting Wednesday.
The three new sites are located at SUNY Old Westbury, Suffolk Community College in Brentwood and SUNY Stony Brook Southampton Campus. The sites will officially open Friday, and all appointments can be made on the state's 'I am eligible'
website.
Curran says 27.5% of all Nassau residents who are eligible for the vaccine have received at least one dose. Curran says that is better than any large county in the state.
The county executive was at Nassau Community College Tuesday where she says an additional 50,000 people will be vaccinated by the end of the day.
Curran says there will also be two more pop-up sites this weekend in New Hyde Park. In addition, the Nassau Coliseum site is close to being up and running. Curran says she plans to make an announcement about that in the coming days.
As for helping seniors with appointments, Curran says the finishing touches are being made on a system to help seniors who don't have computers. Once finalized, she plans to make an announcement.
The county is also operating a pre-registration system on its
website for those eligible. Once you sign up for pre-registration, the county will then notify you about upcoming appointments.
