Suffolk police are investigating the sixth home invasion in more than two weeks Wednesday.
According to police, armed men broke into a home on Edgewood Drive in Mastic around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Police say they robbed the house and that no injuries were reported. Families in Islip, Lindenhurst, Smithtown and Melville have been held at gunpoint and tied up during home invasions, police say. Cops are investigating if all of those are connected.
Police are urging county residents to do small things to protect their property like locking doors and windows at night, having an alarm system and using exterior lights.
Police are not grouping the Mastic home invasion with the others, though they say the five others may be linked. They believe the individuals in the Mastic home were targeted.
Anyone with information on the home invasions is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
