Volunteers at the Mercy House Food Pantry in Dix Hills put together bags of Thanksgiving food items Saturday for families during its annual food drive.
The event has helped hundreds of thousands of people throughout its 36-year history.
Volunteers also handed out 350 turkeys and 250 hams.
Mike Gledhill says he has gone through tough times and is grateful to have food for his family during the holiday.
"It's a great blessing to have something to eat and share with your family," he says. "There's nothing like it to see a smile on the other side of the table."
The Upper Room Christian World Center will hold its Christmas food drive next month.
