Thousands of people pounded the pavement Sunday to raise money for veterans and their families.
The seventh annual Run for the Warriors event kicked off at Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst Sunday morning.
The event included 10K and 5K races, plus a 1-mile walk/run.
Handcycles were also donated for wounded warriors to participate in the race.
The race has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years for Hope for Warriors, a group that supports wounded servicemen and woman, other veterans and the families of the fallen.
Organizers say $200,000 had already been raised before the race even began. All of the proceeds will be donated to Hope for Warriors.
