Hundreds of Long Islanders attended the 13th annual Tuff Tails Animal Rescue Rock 'n Rollapalooza at The Warehouse in Amityville Sunday to raise money for the organization.
The nonprofit saves the lives of homeless and abandoned cats and dogs by fostering them until they have a permanent home.
“It’s thousands of animals that are homeless on Long Island that need help or need a home," said Sandy Unger, president of Tuff Tails Animal Rescue.
Organizers of the event said $10 donations at the door will go directly to Tuff Tails Animal Rescue’s efforts.
“Definitely medical, definitely food. Sometimes, we'll buy beds, something to make them comfortable, toys,” Unger said.
Tuff Tails Animal Rescue also held a 50/50 raffle drawing for the chance to win a gift basket. Each basket was filled with a variety of prizes, including toys for cats and dogs.
Organizers hoped to beat their previous record of raising $10,000 at this event.
“You’re here for the puppies, I mean... that's what it's all about," said Butch Judge from the GTB Band, one of the groups that performed at the fundraiser.
“They deserve a home... and you have to make sure they're cared for," said James Yorio, of Amityville.
