The Amityville school board voted Thursday to formally eliminate approximately 13 positions. The cuts included elementary teachers, teaching assistant and monitors.
The latest round of layoffs are part of a previously announced plan to save $2.8 million, according to Amityville school districts officials.
Other Long Island school districts are also making difficult decisions to make ends meet.
The West Babylon School District is spending nearly $2 million in reserves.
The Sachem School District is spending more than $12 million in reserves, and eliminating jobs.
The Sachem School Board will present its new budget next week, which will detail the proposed cuts.
