The American Airpower Museum held a special event ahead of Veterans Day on Saturday in Farmingdale.
The event honored World War II veterans by showcasing how they set a high standard and passed the torch to later generations of soldiers.
Organizers say those veterans met the challenge by continuing to defend America and its allies.
Albert Gallo, a 97-year-old veteran from Garden, says he appreciated the support.
"It's very nice," he says. "They honor the veterans and I think it's just wonderful to do. It's nice to be recognized."
