Amazon is announcing that it will extend its ban on police use of it facial recognition technology until further notice.

  • Amazon is announcing that it will extend its ban on police use of it facial recognition technology until further notice. The ban was initially put in place in June amid social injustice protests across the nation. Advocates are concerned that technology could incorrectly identify people of color. Amazon has rebuked the claims of racial bias.
  • Twenty companies are responsible for 55% of single-use plastic waste globally, according to the Plastic Waste Makers Index. The analysis also revealed that single-use plastic waste will increase by around 30% in the next half a decade.
  • Robinhood is preparing to reveal filing for its initial public stock offering, according to Bloomberg. The company is looking to make its public trading debut around late next month. The filing will give investors their first look into Robinhood’s financials. Robinhood is known for its popular trading app, which has over 13 million users as of January 2021, according to the company.
