A message in a bottle thrown from Napeague Beach in August has traveled all the way to England.
Harvey Bennett, of Amagansett, says tossing bottles into the ocean is one of his favorite hobbies, but even he was surprised with the response he received from the person that supposedly stumbled across his message. Henry Biggelsworth of Dorset County, England sent Bennett a reply calling him a litterbug and criticizing Americans.
Bennett says he finds the response hysterical and never believed in his wildest dreams one of his bottles would travel so far. He added that the British Press has appeared apologetic to him in phone calls he has received. Efforts by News 12 Long Island and the British Press to contact Biggelsworth have failed, leading many to wonder if the name was made up.
