Henri Rivers IV represented Jamaica in alpine skiing during the 2026 Winter Olympics. He’s from West Babylon and just returned from Italy.
“It was such a cool experience,” Rivers said. “I loved it, and I can't wait to do it again.”
River’s father, Henri Rivers III, is a ski instructor and says there were a lot of emotions watching his son compete.
“After 16 and a half years trying to navigate and set up this journey, for it to come to fruition just meant everything,” said Henri Rivers III.
Henri Rivers IV is a triplet. His sisters, Helaina and Henniyah, are also competitive skiers. The triplet threat started skiing when they were kids.
Although Henri Rivers IV was the only one of his siblings to qualify for the Olympics this time around, the three of them have their eyes on 2030.
“I've worked my entire life to get here, and it paid off,” said Henri Rivers IV. “A lot more work needs to be done in order to go to more Olympics and to hopefully get higher up in the standings.”
During this year’s competition, he wasn’t able to finish his race.
“The course was tough,” said Henri Rivers III. “The conditions were brutal. There was so much snow on the course...He just wanted to rip, and it cost him. But he has no regrets.”
The Rivers triplets are not only fierce competitors - they are paving the way for future generations and trying to make the sport more inclusive by embracing diversity.
“The outdoors are for everyone,” said Henri Rivers III. “The sport is for everyone.”
“The future isn’t written. No one's is,” said Henri Rivers IV. “So the future is whatever you make of it.”
