ALERT CENTER: Suspect sought in Shirley hit-and-run that injured teen bicyclist

Police say the female was riding her bicycle southbound on Flintock Drive at the intersection of Maple Lane when a white four-door sedan traveling westbound stopped at the intersection and then accelerated.

Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the driver of a vehicle that struck a 14-year-old pedestrian in Shirley and fled the scene.
Police say the female was riding her bicycle southbound on Flintock Drive at the intersection of Maple Lane when a white four-door sedan traveling westbound stopped at the intersection and then accelerated. The car struck the teen and knocked her to the ground at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 14.
The vehicle fled the scene without stopping. The teen was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
