A Hempstead man is under arrest Thursday after police say he assaulted a woman in New Cassel.
Police say it happened just after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Officers say they responded to Railroad Avenue in New Cassel after a man forced his way into an apartment and assaulted a woman. They say he then took cash and a pair of earrings.
Police say a 4-year-old child was present during the attack.
Police say 36-year-old Shannon Daniels then took off and was arrested a short time later on Prospect Avenue.
Daniels is facing several charges including assault, burglary, and endangering the welfare of a child.
