Actor and Massapequa native Alec Baldwin avoided injury after crashing an SUV into a tree Monday morning in East Hampton.
Baldwin was driving a Range Rover along Pantigo Road near Cross Highway when he struck a tree at about 12:01 p.m. on Monday, according to East Hampton Town Police. His brother and fellow actor, Stephen Baldwin, was a passenger in the car and also avoided injury.
Alec Baldwin posted about the ordeal on Instagram, noting that he was "fine" and that his brother was visiting him for the weekend to attend the Hamptons International Film Festival.
"This morning, I was in this car accident, guy cut me off with a truck, with a big garbage truck the size of a whale," Baldwin said in the post, noting it was his wife's SUV.
Police said there were no summonses issued in relation to the crash and that the garbage truck was registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore. They also said the crash was a result of slippery and wet road conditions from Monday's nor'easter.
Baldwin said he was also appreciative of the East Hampton Town Police Department and Officer Ian Gerken.
"As nice as can be and as pleasant as can be about the whole thing," he said.
