An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson confirms 12 people were arrested on
Wednesday across Suffolk County as part of a targeted operation under President Donald Trump’s administration and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
News 12 obtained exclusive video showing ICE officers chasing a man into a Hampton Bays bakery, with witnesses describing the scene as chaotic and frightening as agents entered the shop with guns drawn.
ICE confirmed officers were in both Hampton Bays and Westhampton during the arrests.
According to ICE, several of those taken into custody have prior criminal convictions. The agency says four of the men are from Mexico and have histories that include robbery, assault, endangering the welfare of a child and driving while intoxicated.
An ICE spokesperson said in a statement that the agency “will not allow criminal aliens to walk freely on U.S. streets,” and that violating immigration laws carries consequences, including arrest, detention and removal from the country.
It’s still unclear if the man seen running into the bakery is among the suspects identified by ICE.
