Students at Albany Elementary School in North Massapequa learned a special lesson about the Native Americans that used to inhabit Long Island.

Instructor Jamie Reason taught the class his program, Journeys into American Indian Territory, which covers how Native Americans survived by living off of the land.

"This is a way for them to become immersed in Indian culture for one day, where they learn what happen to Indian people and why we are where we are today," Reason told News 12.

The students also played traditional Native American games and learned their songs and dances.
