Despite new, stricter adoption laws in China, the Appel family from Commack finalized the adoption of their third child Friday.
Despite a change in China?s adoption laws over the past two years, which slowed the process for many hopeful parents, the Appels successfully adopted Lilliana. She joins a little boy the family adopted from Korea and a birth child.
The new laws prevent people who are unmarried, take antidepressants or are over the age of 50 from adopting Chinese children. None of these restrictions applies to the Appels.
