Adelphi University will soon have a new president.
Dr. Christine Riordan is set to be the university's first female president in its 118-year history.
With a Ph.D. and MBA from Georgia State University, Riordan says she is looking forward to working with Adelphi students.
"I think being the first female president is a special distinction," said Riordan. "We've got 70 percent female students here and working with them is going to be an honor and a privilege for me."
Dr. Riordan's term as president of Adelphi will officially begin on July 1, 2015.
