AAA says that this season's Thanksgiving travel will be the heaviest for travelers in 12 years. They expect nearly 51 million total travelers, 45.5 million driving, while 4 million will fly to their destinations.
This year's Thanksgiving gas prices are the highest since 2014, with the national average at $2.53, while the mean on Long Island sits at $2.68.
The worst intersection for travelers is expected to be the Long Island Expressway at Route 106/107.
For those flying, you are urged to arrive at your airport at least two hours before departure time.
But this year's flights are a bit easier on everyone's wallets, with prices dropping 23 percent from last year.
