The national average for gas prices has not gone up in 21 straight days, according to AAA
The Long Island Gas Retailers Association, however, says the market is unpredictable and prices could increase at any given day.
One of experts' main concerns is this upcoming winter when they say heating oil could go over $6 a gallon.
"They're gonna have trouble driving some place, they're gonna have trouble heating their homes," says Andy Harris, chairman of the board for LIGRA. "How are they gonna stay alive. That's gonna be very, very difficult in the northeast."
LIGRA officials also says retailers need to capture more of a profit, which is why prices are not coming down as fast as some drivers would live.
