Many on Long Island will be getting an early jump on the Fourth of July holiday weekend today.
According to AAA, nearly 43 million people will travel this weekend. They say 36 million will be driving, while another 3 million will be flying.
Those catching a flight should expect longer security checkpoint wait times due to the recent terror attack at the airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
AAA says the record level of traveling Americans is due to the lowest summer gas prices since 2005.
As of June 30, the average gallon of gas costs $2.46, compared to $3.02 one year ago.
