A Nassau hospital is now offering cuddly support for patients and families.

NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola launched its new pet therapy program, Winthrop's Animals Give Support.

WAGS allows certified therapy dogs and their handlers into the hospital to visit patients and comfort their loved ones.

"Our goal is to provide a different type of medicine to our patients,” says Jean Zebroski. “There's nothing like the love or companionship that a dog can provide to someone."

Hospital officials say pet therapy will soon be offered to as many patients as possible.
