The nine sick puppies that were seized from a delivery truck outside Shake A Paw pet store in Hicksville have all tested positive for one or more contagious diseases.
The Nassau SPCA rescued the puppies Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into a pipeline of sick animals being transported from out of state for sale on Long Island.

SPCA officials say dozens more animals that were in the truck have now been exposed to illnesses. The animals were supposed to be dropped off to other stores on the Island. Officials urge people to take their new pets to a vet just to be safe.
"People are going into stores, they're buying puppies and bringing them home for Christmas," says Gary Rogers, of the Nassau SPCA. "Just take it to the vet before you bring it home."
The rescued puppies are now in intensive care and require significant medical attention. The SPCA says the medical costs have already reached over $1,300.
