Nine Elmont students have returned from a class trip to China where they won a Model United Nations competition.
The Elmont Memorial High School students traveled to Beijing and competed against 1,200 students from 25 different nations.
Senior Mykelle Richburg says her team would constantly perform drills to help them practice, and that the entire group had strong chemistry.
They led discussions on climate change, human health and world crises.
Principal John Capozzi says the program is run in conjunction with American schools, including Harvard University, Boston College and Boston University.
The win marks the high school's second title in the competition.
