Authorities say eight people were arrested and two vehicles were seized at a sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station early Saturday morning.
The checkpoint was conducted around 3 a.m. at the Long Island Rail Road parking lot on Route 110 by Church Street.
A total of 563 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was set up as part of ongoing DWI enforcement efforts this Labor Day holiday weekend, police say.
Those arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated were identified as Pierre Delva, 30, of Huntington Station; Jason Klingel, 33, of Bohemia; Ashley Jimenez, 30, of Ridge; Andrew Pohalski, 47, of Huntington; Kevin Hewson, 33, of Baldwin; Howard Wright, 32, of Huntington Station; and Michael Puzzico, 53, of Westminster, Maryland.
The eighth person, 32-year-old Justin Manfredonia, of Nyack, New York, was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs.
Police in both Nassau and Suffolk are warning drivers that they are cracking down on impaired drivers for the holiday weekend.
