Six people were rescued from a boat stranded in the Great South Bay amid gale force winds early Sunday morning.
Police say the boat lost power and began to drift as it was unable to hold anchor because of the conditions.
The stranded boaters were picked up south of Green Point in West Sayville at around 1:15 a.m.
At the time, winds were gusting about 40 mph and 4-foot breaking waves were present.
Police say they were able to tow the boat to Oakdale.
At least one passenger on board was suffering from seasickness, but no injuries were reported.
