Six newly graduated service dogs were paired with some local heroes on Friday.
Each of the pups went through two weeks of training with Canine Companions in order to earn their certificates.
They will go on to help veterans in their everyday lives.
"These dogs will help perform tasks for people, daily living tasks such as retrieving objects off the floor, opening and closing doors, pulling a manual wheelchair, that sort of thing to help people navigate through daily living," says Canine Companions executive director Debra Dougherty
The canines received their official graduation certificates from News 12 Storm Watch Team meteorologist Mike Favetta.
