A 5-year-old boy is recovering after a Dobermann dog bit him Saturday afternoon on Fire Island.

Police say it happened on Juniper Avenue in Seaview at 3:30 p.m.

The boy was taken to the hospital where he was being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening as of Saturday night.

Detectives say a family member who is staying with the boy's family at the location owns the Dobermann.

It was not immediately clear if any arrests or charges were made involving the incident.
