All this week we are celebrating the planet!
Earth Day 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement, and even though the celebrations look different this year, small changes in your house can still mean a better planet tomorrow.
You can start first thing in the morning by turning the faucet off. You can save up to eight gallons of water a day just by shutting off the faucet when brushing your teeth.
Unplug appliances when they are not in use. Your household appliances waste energy even when they're not turned on. So unplug your toasters and lamps when you're not using them.
To brighten up the place, try adding some plants. Bringing a little greenery inside can help keep your air clean. Indoor plants not only convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, but they also trap and absorb many pollutants.
And you can water them with rain water. You can use this non-drinking water for cleaning too.
And while you're outside, get that garden started. Developing your green thumb can save you money. Even something as simple as an herb garden on your windowsill is a great way to get started.
