Consumer Reports has released its list of hospitals on Long Island that are bad for elective surgery for people 65 years and older.

The five hospitals included Winthrop University Hospital, Glen Cove and Plainview hospitals, Mather Memorial Hospital and St. Charles Hospital. The hospitals received "worse" ratings from Consumer Reporters than other hospitals around the country, according to Newsday.

Consumer Reports only looked at hospital claims for Medicare patients and not at medical records.
