Plainview residents are in for a tax hike.
Taxpayers voted Tuesday on a $49 million bond referendum for improvements at the eight schools in the Plainview-Old Bethpage district.
According to the proposal, taxes will go up $196 a year for property owners for the next 20 years.
That money would go toward infrastructure upgrades and improving security. Administrators say there are plans to add more cameras, change locks and add on-site security.
Parents tell News 12 that the added tax is worth it and the money will be well spent.
