yesterdayA 49-year-old woman was shot in the arm and leg this morning in Prospect Heights, police say.
Police received a call at around 8:45 a.m. at 399 St. John's Place and were told the gunman barricaded himself inside.
Police initially thought it could have been a hostage situation, but later determined the suspect ran from the scene.
Eyewitnesses watched in shock as a victim ran from the building, covered in blood.
EMS responded and transported the woman in stable condition to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
The status of the gunman was not immediately available.
