Vote 2025: Supervisor races tighten in Huntington and Riverhead

Democrats were hoping to get a few upsets in the Suffolk County Legislature. The GOP currently holds a supermajority.

Every legislative seat and seven town supervisor positions were on the ballot for voters in Suffolk County.

Democrats were hoping for an upset in two town supervisor races, Huntington and Riverhead.

As of midnight, Democrat Jerome Halpin and incumbent Republican Timothy Hubbard were virtual tied with 95% of the votes tallied.

Cooper Macco, the Democratic candidate for Huntington town supervisor was trailing incumbent Republican Edmund Smyth by several hundred votes, 49%-48%.

Republican leaders watched the results of the election at Stereo Garden in Patchogue. Democrats were at IBEW Local 1049 Union Hall in Holtsville.
