Three people are now displaced after a fire destroyed their home in Nassau County.
The flames broke out on Sherman Avenue in Plainview around 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, fire officials say.
All occupants got out of the home on their own before fire crews arrived on scene.
"We saw a fire on the second floor, that extended into the attic, opened up the ceilings and extinguished the fire,” said Andrew Cohen, Plainview Fire Chief.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb Squad.
No injuries were reported.
The Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced residents.
Cohen says this is the third fire in the Plainview area in less than a week.
