Three men posed as construction workers in a violent home invasion on Ellen Road in Bellmore.
The home itself was already under construction. The homeowner, his wife and three actual construction workers were tied up with zip ties and duct tape. The homeowner was pistol-whipped.
Police say the homeowners had just sold a business and were targeted.
"We don't believe this was random," says Nassau Detective Vincent Garcia. "Someone knew there was construction going on in this house, and they dressed as construction workers so they wouldn't be conspicuous."
Nearby schools were locked down as police searched for the suspects, who fled in a gray van. The suspects got away with cash and jewelry, and they remain on the loose.
